Drogba No Worse than Any Other Striker?
Perhaps not since Diego Maradona’s infamous “Hand of God” comment at the 1986 World Cup has a handball been the subject of so much controversy. This time, the culprit is Chelsea’s Dedier Drogba who confessed to the BBC after his goal against Man City in a 2-0 win last weekend that he handled the ball. Drogba calls it part of the game.
That may be so, but isn’t it quite sad that a player can so blatantly run around and brag that he cheated to win? And what the heck is Arsene Wenger doing defending the antics of Drogba by saying Drogba is “no worse than any other striker”?
It’s a sad state of affairs when not only a player admits that he has flagrantly abused the rules and cheated, but then is also defended by an opposing manager who says it is just part of the game.
