Beckham in the US?
What a brilliant idea. David Beckham wants to end career in US.
I’ve been a firm believer that it will take someone like Beckham to break domestic soccer wide open in the US. It absolutely makes sense. He is perhaps the most famous soccer player on the planet and would be able to sell the game in the States. He would immediately raise the profile of the game in the U.S., and raise the profile and legitimacy of MLS around the world.
It would be analogous to the Wayne Gretzky NHL trade in 1988 that saw the most famous hockey player in the world move from Edmonton to Los Angeles and, as a result, revitalizing American interest in hockey. If it wasn’t for that move, you probably wouldn’t have 3 very successful NHL franchises in California, or NHL teams in the heart of the Sunbelt.
So, I am all for Becks hopping over to this side of the pond for his twilight years (althought some would argue he is in his twilight years already). Maybe he could bring Ronaldo as well?

[...] It may have been the worst kept secret in transfer history (heck, if a guy as out of the loop as me was speculating on this back in April, it could not have been a closely guarded secret), David Beckham has confirmed that he will be joining the LA Galaxy this fall. [...]
