2007 U20 World Cup Qualifying
The UEFA U19 Championship kicked off Tuesday in Poland with 8 teams (Belgium, Austria, Poland and the Czech Republic in Group A with Scotland, Spain, Turkey, and Portugal in Group B) competing for the 6 European spots at the 2007 U20 World Cup next summer in Canada.
According to FIFA, the Czech Republic are the clear favorites in Group A, with Belgium being called the “group outsiders”. If that’s the case, then consider Tuesday’s 4-2 romp by Belgium over the Czech’s a mighty upset. In the other Group A match, Austria beat Poland 1-0.
Over in Group B, Spain beat Turkey 5-3, while the Scots drew 2-2 against Portugal.
The action continues today with Scotland vs. Spain, Portugal vs. Turkey, Belgium vs. Austria and Poland vs. the Czech Republic.
