Henry Won’t be Player of the Year
Thierry Henry hasn’t made the shortlist for the Fifa Player of the Year, and it’s not surprising. As big a fan of Henry as I am, this year there has been something lacking with his game.
Don’t get me wrong – I still think Henry is one of the most dominant players in the game, and one of the few players who can single handedly pull his team out of desperate situations and turn a game on it’s head. But that really hasn’t been the case this year. And with the Gunners struggling in the middle of the Prem, Henry hasn’t been quite the dominating presence that he has been in the past or will be again in the future. Combine that with his fair World Cup performance for France, and you can understand why Fifa is taking a pass on Henry this year.
Let’s hope that, at this time next year, Gunner fans are talking about Henry being the obvious choice for Player of the Year honors, not resigning ourselves to the justifiable fact that he has missed the cut.

Do you think Henry’s disappearance (has not been a big factor in the last several games) is due to the 4-5-1 formation that Wenger is trying to employ this year? Henry is usually up front surrounded by 2-3 defenders and never gets the ball. I think Henry played better in the 4-4-2 when he came in from the side. Reading between the lines in this article, I say Henry doesn’t like the new formation:
