Congo, Gambia, Brazil and Uruguay qualify for U20 World Cup

2 more African and South American teams have qualified for this summers U20 World Cup in Canada.

At the South American U-20 Championship in Paraguay, Uruguay’s 1-1 draw with Chile was enough to see them through, while Brazil’s victory over host Paraguay confirmed their status as one of the 24 teams at Canada 2007.

Chile, Paraguay and Argentina, who drew 0-0 with Colombia on Thursday, are still battling for two of the remaining CONMEBOL places.

Meanwhile in Africa, hosts Congo qualified for their first-ever FIFA tournament, with what FIFA describe as a tense 1-0 win over Burkina Faso. Congo will join Gambia as 2 of the 4 CAF representatives at the U-20 World Cup.
