Who is telling the bigger lie – Hargreaves or Mourinho?
For some reason, Owen Hargreaves has been given a weekly column on the BBC website. In his most recent column, written just before the transfer window closed, Hargreaves claims that all the speculation swirling around a player during the transfer window isn’t noticed by the player. Says Hargreaves:
There is obviously an appetite for speculation but I don’t think players take too much notice.
Riiight. Players are so removed from their own lives that a possible impending move from (for example) Spain to the United States goes completely unnoticed by them.
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho claims that he is happy with the situation at Chelsea.
“Everything is good for me and the support Peter Kenyon was saying to you that the club has for me, if that support is real support – again not about money – but is about real support and complete respect for your job in the club then I will be very happy to see out my contract until the end.”
Again, my bullshit detector is tingling. The cliche is that where there is smoke there’s fire, and there has been an awful lot of smoke coming from Chelsea these days. Let’s see if Mourinho is still happy if the Blues fail to win the Champions League this year.
So, who is living the bigger lie?
