Um, who are you and what have you done to Jens Lehmann?

After yesterday’s 1-0 defeat by PSV in the first round of the knockout stages of the Champions League, you might expect the level headed Jens Lehmann to have a few words about PSV tactics. After all, the man is hardly a shirking violet or at a lose for opinion about an opposing team or player. So it’s quite surprising to seem him so, well, level about PSV.

In an interview on the Arsenal website, Lehmann was given the soapbox; a prime opportunity to launch a tirade against PSV and their tactics…and he refused. In fact, he was almost downright complimentary, saying:

“They were successful tonight and we hope we can turn it around next time. I don’t feel we can complain about their tactics. We have to deal with our own tactics and our own style of play.”

Hence the title of this post.

Hmmmm, I smell some handling by the Arsenal press corps. Could this harken the softening of his pointy edges in preparations to make him more marketable?
