Roy Keane “irriated” by award
Former ManU/Celtic/Irish international Roy Keane continues his gracious ways off the field as Manager of Championship side Sunderland. Keane has been named Championship manager of the month for February and, with true Roy Keane class, says “the award will probably go in the garage…There’s no point getting an award halfway through the season, it kind of irritates me.”
The Black Cats recorded four wins and a draw from their five league games during the month and currently sit fourth in the Championship.
Side not to this story is the fact that it gave me a reason to check in on the Championship, only to find an incredibly tight race for the top. There are a scant 5 points separating the top 8 teams in the table. With less than a dozen games left in the season, the race for the Prem looks like it will be the toughest in years, which means some fantastic footie ahead at the lower levels.
