Arsenal vs. Liverpool

After a 2 week break for internationals, things kick back into high gear for the Gunners with a trip to Anfield tomorrow in a titan battle between Arsenal and Liverpool.

Like Arsenal, Liverpool seems to be struggling with consistency so it’s hard to predict how this match will play out. If Arsenal and Liverpool both come back from the international break a bit refreshed then we should see a very entertaining game.

Liverpool has the added stress of facing PSV this week in the next round of the Champions League, so it will be interesting to see what team Benitez marches onto the field. Will he go strong or hold something back for the match on Tuesday?

Good news for Arsenal is that the break helped heal injuries, and both Gael Clichy and Emmanuel Eboue will both be in the lineup. Emmanuel Adebayor is also back in the first team after sitting out his suspension, and Wenger has said he will be counting on him.

“With the number of strikers we have out, his presence, physical ability and penetration power means it is good to have him back. We have been punished very hard with Adebayor so it is a relief to have him with us again.”

Gilberto is out, after sustaining a minor injury in Brazil’s 1-0 friendly win against Ghana. And it looks like Robin Van Persie is definitely out for the rest of the season.

“We have spoken to the doctors and they told us that the longer you keep this kind of fracture without playing the less chance you have of a recurrence. So if he can play only one or two games then we will not take a gamble.”

Wenger had hoped that he would be back early in April, but his metatarsal injury from January appears to be serious enough that he will join Henry on the bench.
