CBC snag Craig Forrest from Sportsnet

A few days ago there was speculation that Sportsnet’s SoccerCentral host and former Canadian keeper Craig Forrest might be coming out of retirement and try out for Toronto FC. Turns out, that isn’t the case. Forrest is jumping over to the CBC to become their soccer analyst.

While it doesn’t say so specifically, I assume this means he will be leaving Sportsnet, which makes sense since it looks like Sportsnet will be ceasing their Super Soccer Saturday EPL coverage.

Forrest is a good snag for the CBC. Except for the occasional name dropping reference to his past days at West Ham and such, I’ve always found his presentation and analysis strong.

Joining Forrest at the CBC will be Nigel Reed and Mitch Peacock. Reed has been covering soccer for 20 years, while Peacock was an anchor of the Fox Soccer Report and host of MLS Pulse.

Forrest, Peacock and Reed make their on-air debut on April 28, when they call the action for Toronto FC’s MLS home opener. Look for them to anchor the CBC’s coverage of the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup this summer.
