U-20 World Cup venue in Victoria gets makeover
Work has begun at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria, host venue for FIFA U-20 World Cup Group F (Japan, Nigeria, Scotland and Costa Rica) this summer.
Expect to see the new field, which is being grown on a turf farm on the Lower Mainland, installed by the end of the month and temporary bleacher seating to boost the capacity to about 14,000 to get installed in June. New lighting and a broadcast center with camera platforms around the pitch will also be added.
Organizers say that between 5,000 to 6,000 full tournament passes have been sold for Victoria and expect a sellout once single game tickets go on sale sometime in the future.
