Canada improves in FIFA world rankings
After last months dismal FIFA ranking of 103, Canada has risen 9 spots to 94 on the back of a 3-0 Friendly win over Bermuda last month.
Last month’s ranking was the lowest ever for Canada, beating the previous low of 101 in December 1998.
The Canucks still have a long way to go to reach our best ever showing of 40 in December 1996, but with the Gold Cup and friendlies scheduled against Iceland and Costa Rica on the schedule this year, we certainly have the opportunity to rise higher by the end of the year.
World Cup champion Italy returned to No. 1 in FIFA’s world rankings, dethroning Argentina after only a month. Brazil, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Portugal, England, Spain and the Czech Republic round out the top 10.
