Own your own English soccer club

Talk about power to the fans. With all the talk these days of takeovers and mergers in the EPL, here’s an interesting site that wants to move corporate power to the fans.

MyFootballClub is looking for 50,000 people to pony up a £35 membership fee. If it all works, they will have £1,375,000 in seed money to buy a team with every one of the 50,000 members as equal partners.

All 50,000 members will have a say on player selection, tactics and club finances…basically all aspects of running a club.

Granted, in this day and age £1,375,000 isn’t going to buy much of a team, and trying to get consensus on any issue with more than one person calling the shots is very difficult to do. But kudos to MyFootballClub for trying to bring the game back to the grassroots.
