U-20 World Cup ticket sales pass 600,000

I knew this thing was going to be big, but I didn’t think this huge.

600,000 tickets have now been sold for this summers FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada. The event is poised to become the largest single-sport event ever to take place in Canadian history.

“The hunger for tickets and growing anticipation for the FIFA U-20 World Cup truly demonstrates the love of the beautiful game in Canada,” said FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter. “Canadians know they are in for a treat this summer and that nothing but spectacular football will be on display when the world’s top young players battle for the crown of world champion.”

“The excitement surrounding the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007 has been tremendous,” said NOC event director Peter Montopoli. “Canadian fans have shown that there is a real thirst for championship football in this country.”

Hmmmm…the 2018 World Cup in Canada?
