Canada’s next national men’s soccer coach will be Canadian

The CBC has an article today that confirms that Canada’s next coach will be Canadian. Which means either current U-20 coach Dale Mitchell or current U-17 coach Stephen Hart.

The CBC is speculating that the 49 year old Mitchell is set to get the nod from the CSA, but that he will not be leading the senior team in the Gold Cup. Instead, he will stay with the U-20 team for the duration of the U-20 World Cup. Instead Hart will be leading the senior men’s team into next month’s Gold Cup in the U.S.

Update: The CSA has called a press conference for Thursday. Sportsnet is reporting that the CSA will announce Dale Mitchell as the head coach.
