Canada names squad for Iceland friendly August 22 in Reykjavik
Dale Mitchell has announced his first roster for a match since taking over the reigns of Canadian national team earlier this summer. Canada will be traveling to Reykjavik next week to take on Iceland in an international friendly match and, not surprising for a game on European soil, much of the squad is being pulled together from European clubs.
While Dwayne DeRosario and Ante Jazic are notably absent (Mitchell says he is using the Iceland game to get his European based players together and will draw upon North American based players for next months Costa Rica friendly), the side does have 10 players from the squad that made it to the quarter finals of the Gold Cup this year. Spurs back Paul Staltari, Deportivo midfielder Julian de Guzman and FC Copenhagen midfielder Atiba Hutchinson are all in the lineup. The currently clubless Tomasz Radzinski, who passed on the Gold Cup this year, is also included.
Portsmouth and former Canadian U20 keeper Asmir Bergovic, who is currently on loan to AFC Bournemouth in League One of the English Football League, will also travel to Reykjavik.

Saw them playing in the Gold Cup. The team looks pretty decent. The U19′s might not have gone so well at the recent FIFA World Champs, but I think that Canada is a team that is on the up in North American football.
