Lehmann, Eboue & Gallas out for Arsenal vs Man City

Arsenal will be without Jens Lehmann for the next 2 weeks after he picked up an Achilles injury in Germany’s game against England on Wednesday. There is plenty of speculation in the Arse blogsphere and in the mainstream press that this injury might be an injury of convenience to prevent Wenger from having to publicly pull Lehmann based on his recent form.

Manuel Almunia will get the start, and you have to suspect that if Almunia does well over the next few weeks we might see more of him this season that expected.

William Gallas and Emmanuel Eboue are also out, but Gilberto and Emmanuel Adebayor will get their first starts of the season.

With Adebayor back, it will be interesting to see if Hleb moves back wide to the right instead of playing the second striker role, where he has been for the first 2 games of the season. Pity, because he has been doing well there, scoring twice for Arsenal in the first 2 weeks of the season.
