Holy Crap, we’re playing Brazil????

I have been so out of the loop that I almost completely missed this little tidbit – the Canadian Men’s national team playing Brazil in Seattle on May 31st? Is it true? According to Gerry Dobson at Sportsnet we can expect the official word from the CSA any day now.

This has started with an article in the Seattle PI a few weeks ago, and was also picked up by The National Post, among others.

Pack my bags, baby…I am taking a road trip!

Meanwhile, other Canuck news, the Canadian leg of our first WC2010 campaign will take place in Montreal. Saint Vincent & the Grenadines will travel to Quebec on June 20th to play in the 16,000 seat Stade Saputo, home to the Montreal Impact. The game kicks off at 7:30pm. If you can’t make it to Montreal, I’m confident that either Sportsnet or the CBC will be broadcasting this one, unlike the first game of the leg in St. Vincent. According to Dobson’s post:

I’m told they are incapable of mounting a televsion (sic) broadcast, so at this point there will not be one.

Yep, we’re playing in CONCACAF.

omg this is gonna be funny. hopefully they will take it easy. it’ll be good to see. anyone know what channel will be showing this game? tsn?

CBC streamed the Estonia friendly live on their website, so they will probably be carrying the feed. Haven’t heard anything from the usual suspects about carrying the game. Sportsnet has carried friendlies in the past as well.

Hope it won’t be funny. I’m looking forward to Canada being at least competitive. I hold no illusions about the match – it’s Brazil after all, but I think if the same team that showed up for the Gold Cup appears, we could see a few shining moments from the boys.
