Julian de Guzman interview

A great interview by Nigel Reed and Bob Iarusci with Julian de Guzman yesterday on Toronto radio station Fan 590 that leaves no doubt in my mind that JDG is not only a leader on the pitch, but also in the locker room.

He is frank and honest, yet diplomatic with his answers when it comes to the sensitive points of Canuck soccer – the CSA and the turf in Toronto.

Also in the interview, he talks about the Brazil game, both the highs (scoring) and the lows(oh, the backpass) and reiterates what we have been hearing in the press lately – this is a team that is full of confidence and truly believes they will be going to South Africa. A teling point comes near the end of the interview where de Guzman talks about not only challenging for the third CONCACAF spot, but the #2 spot. And judging from the US performance against England last week, he’s not far off.

It’s a good interview with one of the best this country has ever produced. The interview is available on The Fan website.
