In my opinion, the issue isn't Nasri - though he did look great on Saturday. Arsenal is very deep in creative midfielders - Cesc, Rosicky, Denilson and Diaby.

The problems are two fold - holding midfield (we need to get Inler from Undinese or else teams will push us around) and defense (Arsenal conceded too many goals last year).

I trust in Wenger, but we need to spend some money if we are to win trophies.

Here's hoping that the energy is high for Wednesday's game. A sellout at BMO is a great start, and the marches/pre game festivities the Voyageurs are planning should also help get everyone into the mood (see the V's site for all the march info if you are in TO for the game http://www.canadian-soccer.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=16765).

I agree that the CSA has been a bit of a mess with the game, but for some reason latelty things seem to have gotten a bit better. Not quite so much CSA whining to do these days as there was, say a year and a half ago when we were heading into the Gold Cup without Managers, Coaches, Technical Directors, etc.

As for the coaching, I have to say that so far I have been happy with Dale Mitchell. He is pretty well making the right picks as far as I am concerned and, most importantly, the players support him. He knows these players and the current string of CONCACAF players in the region, very well after having seen/coached many of them thru the U20 program. But the real test begins now.

Thanks for stopping by! And isn't Nasri another kick ass signing for the Gunners!

It was tough to find info/analysis on the starting squad for Wednesday's game, so I appreciate your blog.

We'll see how Canada does, but given the lack of $$ to spend on a top coach and the mess at the CSA, I'm not too optimistic in the lead up to 2010.

It will be interesting to see if on Wednesday we can get generate the same atmosphere as a TFC game. I'll be in my normal season-tickets seats behind the goal, so I'll be able to say first hand.
