DeRo comes home

Update: December 14. I would have thought a player like DeRo would be the DP, but it appears he will not be TFC’s Designated Player but rather a senior international with a salary around the $400k mark. Which means TFC could still be in the market for a DP. Exciting times for the MLS club.

I’ve been dealing witha  bit of a family emergency this week and almost missed the big news about Dwayne DeRosario. Rumours about a DP for TFC have been floating around for months now, and today they finally came true with the announcement that Canadian midfielder and former Houston Dynamo Dwayne DeRosario has been traded to Toronto FC.

This can only be a positive for the game in Canada. DeRo is about as big a name in Canadian soccer as you can get and having him playing on the most senior professional soccer team in Canada is a great fit. And it will no doubt push a few more of those spiffy new TFC jersey’s out the door.
