David Edgar puts pressure on Newcastle

Canadian football (soccer) player David Edgar

David Edgar is an eager young man. Reports from Newcastle have the 21 year old Canadian defender pushing hard to either see more first team action with the Magpies or a deal to get him to a team where he can.

It has to be exceptionally frustrating for a guy like David, who has Geordie blood running through him via his Dad, Eddie Edgar, himself a former keeper for Newcastle. A dream come true to play at Newcastle is turning into an extended stay in purgatory as he has seen limited action, despite being the captain of the reserve squad and scoring memorable goals against both ManU (was that really 2 years ago already) and, last week, Liverpool.

Here’s hoping Newcastle pisses or gets off the pot.

The pen he was responsible for chalked off the one he scored, no?
Wasn't his dad Eddie just fired?
I hardly think 2 goals in 2 years is worth a look from the 1st team. Even at Newcastle.

Well, 2 goals in the dozen or so games he has played is pretty good for a defender. But yeah, I hear what you are saying TIA. (especially when the other side scored 5 and you are a defender). I didn't see the penalty but from what I have read it sounded like a mistake by an inexperienced defender.

At any rate, I write from the perspective of a fan of the MNT and, in order for our players to develop, they need to play. A move to a Championship side where he would get first team action would probably be better than languishing in the reserves for Newcastle.
