On the bench: Simeone Jackson, Tomasz Radzinski, Asmir Begovic and DeRo
A roundup of some stories today of interest to Canadian soccer fans.
- Some Canadian Guys Writing About Soccer have uncovered speculation that Simeone Jackson will be leaving Gillingham for the Championship and signing with Leicester City for a tidy sum of cash.
- Duane at the 24th Minute is reporting that Tomasz Radzinski is doing his best Energizer bunny impersonation and staying at FC Lierse in Belgium 2nd Division for at least 2 more years.
- Full-Time is following the Asmir Begovic story. Following the Portsmouth keepers appearance on the Vancouver radio soccer show stating his desire to keep playing for Canada, Bosnian media or fans (not sure of the exact source) are contradicting Begovic and stating that they are somehow taking the matter up with FIFA.
- Well, I guess MNT fans can’t feel too slighted as scheduling issues will mean that the MLS All-Star game will be without Dwayne DeRosario. No doubt – DeRo loves his TFC and this once again highlights the crapptacular position players find themselves in when the MLS and CONCACAF can’t get their scheduling act together. By the way, this player dilemma was nicely written about earlier this week in a blog post by Nigel Reed on his CBC blog.
